FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Why shouldn't I just make my subs do it?
Because most subs can't:
- Capability gap: Smaller trades often don't have Revit, AutoCAD, or the manpower to produce federally compliant as-builts. Even MEPF subs with tools rarely deliver full-set compliance.
- Coordination gap: Your project requires all disciplines in one complete, signed-off package. Relying on 6–10 subs means piecing together mismatched formats, standards, and timelines.
- Risk gap: If a sub misses the mark, the GC is still on the hook with USACE/NAVFAC. That’s a risk you don’t need.Final Set solves the headache by:
- Delivering one unified package that covers every trade.
- Guaranteeing federal submission compliance.
- Taking the chase work, coordination, and risk off your plate so you can close out clean and move on to the next job.In short: subs may try, but you'll still be left holding the bag. With us, you're covered.
Why not just have my internal BIM/VDC team do it?
Because they’re already overloaded. Your VDC team is focused on design coordination, RFIs, and keeping the project moving. By closeout, they’re stretched thin and your subs are long gone. As-built updates become a low-priority, high-risk burden — and that’s where projects stall.Final Set removes that risk:- Specialists, not generalists: we do nothing but as-builts, so we’re faster and sharper.- Compliance-first: our QA/QC is built for federal review, not just internal standards.- Predictable cost: a flat per-sheet rate is easier to budget than pulling salaried staff off other priorities.- Frees your team: your VDC staff stays focused on what they’re best at, while we ensure your final submission is clean, compliant, and approved. In short, you could keep it in-house, but you’ll pay more in hidden costs, delays, and stress. Outsourcing to Final Set means you finish strong and move your critical people on to the next job.
Do you only work on federal projects?
Federal is our focus because of the strict standards, but our process and QA/QC apply to any project where accuracy and compliance matter — healthcare, aviation, higher ed, and more.
How long does it take to deliver a Final Set?
Project timeline depends highly on job size, complexity, and missing design files. For exmaple, a 600-sheet set with all the files we need may run 8-10 weeks with progress delivered along the way instead of all at the end. On larger jobs longer than 4 weeks, you'll always know exactly where we are via weekly percentage updates. Get a quote for timeline on your project.
What's your QA/QC process?
Every drawing is checked twice:
1. Internal peer review against USACE/NAVFAC/GSA standards.
2. Final lead review before deliver.
This two-step check ensures sheets are compliant before submission.
What if a submittal is rejected by the government?
Rejections are rare. But if they happen, we revise at no additional charge until the sheet set meets the acceptance standards. That's our guarantee.
Do rates change for complex redlines?
No. Our rates are flat per sheet touched — whether it's a simple note or a complex revision. The only variable is sheet count (100-300 or 300+).
How do you handle large projects?
Large jobs are broken into phased deliveries (e.g. displciplines at a time). This keeps progress steady, reduces review bottlenecks, and lets you invoice progressively. Our team is sized to scale up without slowing down.
Who is behind Final Set?
We are a team of U.S.-based BIM, VDC, and CAD specialists with deep construction experience. Our background is in delivering a wide variety of BIM/VDC deliverables for large contractors who don't have in-house resources or can't risk delays in their construction projects.
How do you keep clients updated?
Every client gets a dashboard with:
- Weekly % complete per sheet set
- Missing files / open RFIs blocking progress
- Notes from our QA/QC checks
No guessing, no email chains — just real-time clarity you can see any time.
About Us
Why We Built Final Set
I’ve spent my career at the intersection of construction and technology—leading BIM/VDC for contractors, working side-by-side with project teams, and closing out jobs where the details mattered most.Over the years, I’ve directed BIM/VDC efforts at a $1B contractor, delivered on dozens of complex projects, and supported general contractors nationwide with compliance-driven deliverables. My teams have saved owners and contractors over $100 million in wasted time and rework by bringing discipline and repeatable process into an industry that too often runs on chaos. That’s the foundation of Final Set.We’re not just drafters—we’re builders who understand what’s at stake when closeout stalls. I’ve seen first-hand how projects rise and fall on documentation. Contractors are juggling too much at once, trying to move on to the next job. Subs don’t have the bandwidth, or don't even know what BIM is to begin with. And yet the requirements never get lighter. You need a partner who can take this burden and deliver the same reliable result, every time.At Final Set, we don’t chase complexity for its own sake. We follow a disciplined, repeatable process that gets you to a compliant, approval-ready set of as-builts without the stress. It’s the kind of process I wish I had when I was on the contractor’s side of the table. If you’re a GC carrying the weight of closeout, I built this for you.May your projects be on-time and under-budget,
